Corbett Lake Lodge

There are places where the day moves at the pace of the lake, and Corbett Lake Lodge is one of them.

The lodge sits on 300 acres of sub-alpine grasslands and woodland off Highway 5A, about 15 minutes from Merritt and roughly two and a half hours from Vancouver. Rolling hills, fir, ponderosa pine, aspen and wildflower meadows surround the property.

Built around 1942 as a fishing and hunting retreat, the original lodge still stands. It is known for trophy trout fishing and for its food and hospitality, and it welcomes weddings, family reunions and retreats of all kinds.

The lodge's dining room overlooks the lake and a wooded area, and the lounge gathers around a large stone fireplace, with a library corner for reading and games.

Guests can stay on site in rustic cedar cabins with kitchens, bathrooms and wood-burning fireplaces, most with a view of the lake, as well as three hotel-style lodge rooms. Depending on how groups are arranged, the resort can sleep around 40 to 60 guests.

Between celebrations there is swimming, canoeing and kayaking on the lake, plus hiking and cycling nearby. Family might arrive a day early for a morning on the water or a walk through the meadows.

The lodge operates seasonally, from the end of April to the third week of October.
