Some celebrations are made by the view outside the window. Here, it is the North Shore mountains, the Pacific and the boats of Coal Harbour Marina.
Coal Harbour Community Centre sits in downtown Vancouver, a few blocks from Stanley Park and close to Waterfront Station. Its rooms are rented through the West End Community Centre Association, which lists elegant wedding receptions, engagement parties and anniversary celebrations among the events it hosts.
For a wedding reception, the Multi-Purpose Room is the natural choice. Giant windows fill the space with natural light and show off ocean and mountain views, with high ceilings, hardwood floors and a spacious shared patio.
The room seats up to approximately 80 guests and holds around 100 standing, with round and rectangular tables and chairs available.
A kitchen area with a fridge, microwave, oven, dishwasher and double sink lets couples bring in their own catering. Cooking is not permitted, but food can be prepared and reheated on site. Alcohol may be served with a valid Special Event Permit.
The space is very much a do-it-yourself venue. Couples and their helpers handle setup, decorating and cleanup, and an optional janitorial service is available for larger social functions in the Multi-Purpose Room. A portable LCD TV and projector with screen are also available.
Guests can park in the pay parkade directly behind the centre, and evening and weekend rentals can be booked up to a year in advance.
For couples who want a relaxed, personal reception with harbour and mountain views and the freedom to bring their own caterer, Coal Harbour Community Centre offers a bright downtown room ready to be made their own.
We never use a venue’s photos without permission.
