Do you personalize your ceremonies?
Always! I take the time to get to know you, your story, and what matters to you. Whether it's incorporating cultural or spiritual traditions, family members, meaningful readings, or a little humour, we'll work together to create a ceremony that feels like you, not something pulled from a generic script.
Do we have to write and exchange personal vows?
Absolutely not! Some couples love writing their own vows, while others would rather leave the talking to me. There's no pressure to stand in front of everyone and pour your heart out if that's not your thing. We'll find an approach you're both comfortable with while still including the required marriage declarations.
What if we're shy, anxious, or uncomfortable speaking in front of people?
Then we'll work around that! I know how overwhelming it can feel to have all eyes on you. Some couples prefer to say as little as possible, and others don't even want a microphone held toward them during their ring exchange. That's perfectly fine. We'll talk through what you're comfortable with ahead of time, and I'll do everything I can to make sure you feel safe, supported, and at ease. This is your moment, not a public speaking test.
Do we need a rehearsal, and do you have to be there?
A big, emphatic no! Rehearsals are entirely optional, and if you're working with a wedding planner, chances are they already have things well in hand. I provide all my couples with a ceremony cue summary that they can use at their rehearsal or share with their planner. I'm happy to attend if you'd prefer, but it's certainly not a requirement.
Do you officiate more than one wedding per day?
Nope! I only book one wedding per day. Weddings don't always run on schedule, and the last thing I want is for you to feel rushed because I have somewhere else to be. On your wedding day, you're my priority. Period.
Can we involve our children, family members, or loved ones in the ceremony?
Of course! There are lots of lovely ways to include the people who matter most to you, whether that's through readings, special traditions, or a meaningful role in the ceremony. And if you'd rather keep things simple, that's perfectly fine too.
Do you officiate small weddings or ceremonies outside Niagara?
Absolutely! Whether it's an intimate gathering or a larger celebration, the size of your wedding doesn't change the care I put into your ceremony. I'm based in Niagara Region but am happy to discuss weddings farther afield. Additional travel fees may apply.
What happens if our wedding is running late?
First, don't panic! It's one of the reasons I only book one wedding per day. Things happen, schedules shift, and sometimes the unexpected throws everyone for a loop. I want you to enjoy your day without worrying that I'm watching the clock or rushing off to another wedding.
