At Chapman Hall, couples can marry beneath stained glass in a lovingly restored church in Port Dover, then celebrate the night away in a glamorous lower hall, with a boutique hotel right next door.
The building has a long story in town. Knox Presbyterian Church first stood here in 1849 and was rebuilt in 1961. It has now been fully restored for the first time since then, keeping its architectural character while becoming a bright, modern wedding venue.
The venue offers two very different moods. The main hall has 15-foot ceilings and luminous stained glass, a light-filled setting for a ceremony. Downstairs, exposed steel and cinder block walls meet gold and glass chandeliers, creating a moody lounge for cocktails and late-night dancing.
Across two floors and 4,400 square feet, Chapman Hall seats up to 120 for a plated dinner, 80 for buffet or food stations, and 140 for a cocktail or theatre-style event. Scandinavian-inspired furnishings, including white oak tables and custom upholstered chairs, are part of the space.
A private, bright bridal and VIP suite offers lounge seating, makeup counters and a refreshment station. The venue is air-conditioned and fully accessible, with a motorized lift, and has a full catering kitchen for the couple's chosen caterer.
Next door, The Dover George is a four-suite luxury boutique hotel. Couples can book the whole property for a weekend, with the suites, a welcome dinner and gourmet breakfasts for their closest guests. Port Dover's beach on Lake Erie and Main Street are just steps away.
For couples who picture a ceremony bathed in stained-glass light and a weekend by the lake with their inner circle, Chapman Hall offers a stylish, historic wedding with a home base close at hand.
