In the middle of a much-loved city park, a lodge with wood beams and a glowing fireplace can feel like a world of its own.

Centennial Lodge sits in the heart of Queen's Park in New Westminster and is operated by the City of New Westminster as a venue for wedding receptions, banquets, anniversaries and special occasions.

The lodge can accommodate up to approximately 110 guests. Its open floor plan, wood beams, natural gas fireplace and scenic views give a reception a warm, gathered feeling.

A full warming kitchen supports catered meals, and dedicated staff help make sure the day runs smoothly.

For the ceremony, the nearby Herb House Rose Garden, also in Queen's Park, is a natural companion. Renovated in 2010, it features more than 600 floribunda and hybrid roses, a gazebo and decorative entrance trellises, with colourful seasonal floral displays around them.

The garden is a lovely place for vows and photos, and guests can move from the roses to the lodge without ever leaving the park.

Events serving alcohol need a posted liquor licence issued from a BC Liquor Store.

For couples who picture a rose garden ceremony followed by a cosy reception by the fire, Centennial Lodge offers a warm, park-side celebration in New Westminster.
