About
Canal District

At the Canal District, a wedding reception fills a historic sandstone machine shop where exposed beams still frame the room.

The district stands on the former grounds of a pulp and paper mill in Sault Ste. Marie. Its sandstone buildings have been restored as a home for dining, entertainment and events.

The main venue sits inside the Machine Shop, built in 1899. It holds between 50 and 400 guests, with a full bar, a projector and a full sound system.

For smaller celebrations, the Bankers Room seats 30 to 150 beneath tall ceilings and large windows, and the Mezzanine, with its exposed beams, suits gatherings of 20 to 60. Catering and drink menus are tailored to each event.

For couples who picture sandstone walls, old timber beams and a dance floor in a piece of local industrial history, the Canal District offers a wedding with character and room to celebrate.
