Some couples want more than a single evening. They want a whole weekend in the woods with the people they love, and they want the fall colours of Algonquin Park all around them.
Camp Arowhon opens its site to a small number of weddings each year, limited to September weekends when the leaves are at their peak. For those few days, the camp becomes a private retreat for the couple and their guests.
This is a wedding designed as a shared weekend rather than a single event. Guests can spend their time canoeing and kayaking, on the tennis and basketball courts, at the climbing wall and ropes course, or exploring open fields, wooded trails and waterfront areas.
The camp can host up to approximately 500 guests, with a minimum of 100, and offers several ways to stay. There are private cottages with kitchenettes and en suite bathrooms, private bedrooms with double beds for more than 100 people, and group cabins with bunk beds for 400.
All meals throughout the stay are included apart from the reception dinner, and the team works directly with each couple to design a custom menu around the group's preferences and dietary needs.
The camp describes itself as intentionally personal rather than large or commercialized. Couples work directly with the team to shape the guest experience, the menu and the schedule of the weekend.
Family can arrive, settle into a cabin and spend a day on the water before the celebration begins, then wake up the next morning still together among the trees.
For couples who picture a wedding weekend that feels like summer camp for grown-ups, set against the autumn colours of Algonquin Park, Camp Arowhon offers a celebration that lasts well beyond the vows.
