Some celebrations are meant to happen outdoors, among flowers planted with butterflies in mind and close enough to the Grand River to feel its presence.
The Butterfly Garden sits on the grounds of St. James Anglican Church in Fergus. The gardens were planted with butterfly-friendly plants to welcome butterflies and people alike, and the public is encouraged to visit this setting along the Grand River.
For special events, the church rents both its gardens and its community hall. The garden and the hall can each accommodate up to approximately 100 guests, which gives couples the option of an outdoor gathering with an indoor space close at hand.
Weddings are offered as a full package that includes space for the ceremony, the reception and the rehearsal. Set up and take down, insurance, a keyholder and coordinator, a caretaker, washrooms and kitchen use are all part of the arrangement, along with two bartenders when alcohol is served.
Couples planning something simpler can also book the space for a wedding ceremony only, with up to four hours of use.
The location is central to Fergus, with free parking for guests. When alcohol is served, the renter provides the liquor licence.
A couple might say their vows among the flowers, then move into the hall as the evening settles in, all without anyone needing to leave the property.
For couples who picture a relaxed, garden-centred celebration in the heart of Fergus, the Butterfly Garden offers a gentle setting beside the Grand River with the practical pieces already gathered in one place.
