Some weddings want a ballroom. Others want a country hall, a field around it and the whole building to themselves from morning until midnight.
Bristol Event Centre is a family-run hall on sixty acres, about ten minutes from Steinbach and around forty-five minutes from south Winnipeg.
Ceremonies can take place outdoors in a roofed, lattice-sided gazebo measuring 12 by 28 feet, set on a cedar deck and strung with warm bulbs. It comes included with the hall, which means the wedding party stays dry even if the forecast turns.
Supper and dancing then move into the hall itself, one open room that holds up to 200 guests standing or at a buffet, and around 180 seated for a plated supper with a dance floor.
Tables and chairs for 200, dishes and cutlery come with the building, along with a full kitchen with two fridges, a stove, a microwave and a commercial dishwasher. There is no in-house catering and no required list, so couples can bring any caterer they like, family included.
The venue does not set rooms or rent decor, leaving couples free to dress the space however they wish, and the owners are happy to point them toward local rental, floral and catering professionals.
Couples can book the whole weekend, decorating on Friday, marrying on Saturday and loading out on Sunday in daylight. Free on-site parking is included, and cars can stay overnight.
