Some weddings feel like they belong to the land around them. At Boundary Ranch, that land is Kananaskis Country, with the Alberta Rockies close on every side.
Boundary Ranch is a western ranch known for trail rides, sleigh rides and group adventures, and its Western Event Centre welcomes weddings, corporate events and private celebrations.
Outdoor ceremonies take place on the grounds with a spectacular mountain backdrop, and indoor services can also be arranged.
Receptions are held in the Kiska Lodge, an octagonal room with monumental log timbers rising to the skylights and a handcrafted stone and iron fireplace at its centre. A built-in bar, a stage for entertainment and walkouts to the patio and fire pit complete the space, which holds a maximum of 300 guests.
Other buildings add options for smaller gatherings. Elkhorn Hall, originally built as a barn and later transformed into a movie set, holds up to 75 guests, while Caribou Lodge offers a two-storey vaulted space with a wood burning stone fireplace and private patio for up to 60.
The ranch's food service team prepares traditional barbeque and western menus, served on blue enamelware, and full bar service is available.
Couples can add a horse drawn carriage ride for themselves or a wagon ride for guests between the ceremony and the reception, a very Kananaskis way to pass the time before dinner.
For couples who want mountains, horses and a celebration with genuine western spirit, Boundary Ranch offers a wedding that feels rooted in the Alberta Rockies.
