At Bonterra Trattoria, a wedding feels like a long Italian dinner among friends, with vows on a sunny terracotta terrace and toasts beside a glowing stone fireplace.
This Calgary trattoria pairs old world Italian tradition with a quietly elegant room. Ornate chandeliers cast a warm light, and the space is built around a handsome stone fireplace that gives the whole restaurant a rustic, welcoming feel.
The patio terrace is the romantic heart of the place. Paved in terracotta stone and styled after the Tuscan countryside, it makes a lovely spot for a ceremony. It is included when couples book the whole restaurant, and it can also be reserved on its own in season, weather permitting, seating up to 110 guests or 135 for a standing reception.
Inside, the Main Dining Room has exposed brick, soaring ceilings, the stone fireplace and a wall of wine. It seats up to 80 guests for dinner or holds 120 for a cocktail style evening with food stations.
Upstairs, the Wine Room is a more private hideaway with its own washrooms, seating up to 30 guests or 45 standing, a good fit for a rehearsal dinner or a small wedding.
The kitchen is known for carefully made Italian cuisine and a strong wine list, and the events team helps shape the menu for each celebration, from a seated dinner to a full venue buyout.
For couples who picture a Tuscan style patio ceremony followed by a long, leisurely Italian dinner with the people they love, Bonterra Trattoria offers an intimate city wedding with the warmth of a family table.
