A wedding at Blue Mountain Resort can begin with a gondola ride to a mountaintop ceremony, with Georgian Bay stretching out far below.
Ontario's largest mountain resort sits at the foot of the Niagara Escarpment near the shores of Georgian Bay in The Blue Mountains, about two hours northwest of Toronto. Dedicated wedding and event managers guide couples through every step, and the resort openly welcomes every couple and their traditions.
The Off Piste Mountaintop Pavilion crowns the Waterfall run with a 12,000 square foot patio sheltered by three linked hexagonal domes. Their open sides keep the view clear in every direction, and the pavilion holds weddings of 50 to 250 guests. The gondola ride up is included, and an indoor space is held in case the weather turns.
Down in the Village, the Village Conference Centre looks out to the mountain and the bay through floor to ceiling windows, with soaring ceilings, huge beams and open trusses. Its bright Atrium opens onto a large patio, and its rooms suit weddings from 50 guests up to 450 in the Huron Grand Ballroom.
A landscaped path around the Mill Pond leads to The Westin Trillium House, where a private terrace looks over a creek, a waterfall and the pond. Its ballroom welcomes up to 350 guests, and the Millpond Terrace up to 150.
All inclusive packages bring a hors d'oeuvres reception, a three course plated dinner or buffet and house wine, along with a menu tasting, cake cutting, ceremony refreshments and an on site event manager. The couple stays two nights in a one bedroom Village suite, and the executive chef can create personal menus.
With more than 900 resort units, from boutique suites to cozy hotel rooms, guests can stay steps from the party at preferred rates and enjoy the pools, whirlpools and saunas. The Village's restaurants, shops and slopes, plus the Monterra Golf fairways, keep the whole weekend full.
For couples who picture escarpment views, a sunset over the bay and their favourite people gathered for a mountain weekend, Blue Mountain Resort offers a destination wedding close to home.
