A wedding at Blackshop Restaurant & Wine Bar is a celebration built around the table, with fine food, good wine and the glow of fireplaces and patio lights as the evening settles in.
This long-standing Cambridge restaurant sits on Hespeler Road, close to Highway 401, with plenty of on-site parking and hotels a few minutes away for guests travelling in from out of town.
A recent renovation gave the rooms a modern, luxurious look: amber capiz chandeliers under walnut ceilings, a backlit onyx bar, planted dividers between the banquettes and a glass wine cellar beside the private dining rooms.
Both the ceremony and the reception can happen here. Event Space A joins the State Room and the skylit Atrium into one bright private room for up to 80 seated guests or 100 at a cocktail reception, with room for a head table and a dance floor. Event Space B opens onto a covered patio and seats up to 90.
Smaller gatherings fit just as well. The State Room seats 22 for a rehearsal dinner or a small wedding meal, and the Guild Room, attached to the patio, seats 46.
The kitchen cooks European-inspired dishes from seasonal, locally sourced ingredients, and menus can be shaped around allergies and dietary needs. A wine list drawn from around the world rounds out the meal.
Private events come with dedicated servers, a sound system for your own music, a microphone for speeches and screens for a slideshow, and the events team helps with layout and timing.
For couples who picture an elegant dinner, a glass of something special and toasts under warm light, Blackshop offers an intimate wedding where the food is the star of the night.
