Bedford Basin Yacht Club

At Bedford Basin Yacht Club, a wedding comes with sailboats on their moorings, the glint of the Basin and a deck made for toasting as the day winds down.

The club was founded in 1953 at the head of the Bedford Basin, back when Bedford was a cottage community on the edge of Halifax. Fog from the harbour rarely reaches this far up the Basin, which is why the spot earned the nicknames Sunnyside and Summer Cove.

Today it is a family focused, volunteer run sailing and boating club, and its clubhouse can be rented by members and non-members alike for weddings and parties.

Upstairs, the wardroom is served by the club bar and opens onto a deck overlooking the Basin and the marina. Downstairs, a dining and social area is served by the club kitchen, with a sheltered deck above the marina and barbecues for a more casual gathering.

An outdoor tent can be added for an extra fee, giving couples more room to spread out by the water.

The club manager can share availability and booking details for a wedding date.
