A wedding at the BC Sports Hall of Fame lets couples celebrate surrounded by the stories, medals and moments that shaped a province, in a setting unlike any ballroom.
For more than 50 years, this downtown Vancouver museum has gathered and cared for British Columbia's sporting history. Its collection now holds over 28,000 artifacts covering some 150 years of achievement, and the galleries are bright, colourful and full of character.
The Hall of Champions sits at the heart of the museum, with a wall honouring inductees, displays of artifacts and an interactive touchscreen where guests can explore photos, videos and stories. It seats up to 90 guests theatre style, making it a natural spot for a ceremony or toasts.
For a larger celebration, the Hall of Champions can be paired with the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Gallery, home to a real medal ceremony podium and a torch signed by Opening and Closing Ceremony torchbearers. Together these spaces welcome around 120 guests for a standing reception.
Couples can also book the whole museum after hours, closed to the public, which opens up the Terry Fox Gallery, the Rick Hansen Gallery, the Participation Zone and more for up to 240 guests mingling at a cocktail reception. A prep and catering space comes with each rental, and staff-led tours can be added for guests.
The hall sits in the centre of the city, with transit and hotels close by for guests travelling in from near and far.
For couples who picture their friends and family raising a glass among Olympic memories and local legends, the BC Sports Hall of Fame offers a spirited, story-filled reception right in downtown Vancouver.
