Thunderbird Farm

There is something beautifully fitting about beginning a marriage somewhere things are still growing.

Thunderbird Farm sits in the countryside of Kawartha Lakes, surrounded by open fields, mature trees and a century-old post-and-beam barn. Couples can take over the property for the celebration, with outdoor ceremony spaces, indoor and outdoor gathering areas and overnight accommodation in the historic farmhouse.

The ceremony can begin outside beneath a handcrafted arbour, with guests gathered on wooden benches and the farm stretching around them.

Then the nerves disappear.

Cocktails begin while the newlyweds wander through the property for photographs among the fields, barn and farm animals.

Inside, the old barn becomes the heart of the evening, welcoming celebrations of up to approximately 130 guests. Warm timber beams and harvest tables give the room character before anything else is added.

Later, the countryside grows quiet while the barn does exactly the opposite.

Dinner becomes speeches.

The lights soften.

And a building that has stood for generations fills with music and another family's memories.
