A Whitehorse wedding has a sense of adventure built into it before the first invitation is even opened.

At the Sternwheeler Hotel & Conference Centre, couples can bring everyone together in the heart of the Yukon capital and keep the celebration wonderfully simple: the wedding, dinner, dancing and somewhere for guests to stay can all come together under one roof.

The hotel has 650 square metres of event space spread across six venues, including a ballroom, banquet facility and smaller meeting rooms. For the biggest celebrations, up to 320 guests can gather banquet-style, giving couples room for the kind of northern wedding where family, friends and several generations can all find a place around the tables.

Smaller rooms allow more intimate celebrations to feel properly intimate rather than lost inside an oversized ballroom.

Behind the scenes, the hotel's events team can help arrange catering and audiovisual support, taking care of some of the practical pieces that need to disappear once the wedding day actually arrives.

Because this is a hotel wedding, the celebration can begin long before the ballroom doors open.

Guests arrive in Whitehorse and check in. Family members who may not have seen one another in months start appearing in the lobby. Friends meet for dinner downstairs at Tony's Pasta & Seafood House, where handmade pasta, seafood and steak are part of the menu.

Then the wedding morning arrives.

Elevators begin filling with people dressed considerably better than they were at breakfast. Flowers appear. Someone realizes they have forgotten something upstairs. Somewhere behind closed doors, the ballroom is being transformed from an event space into a room that looks unmistakably like the two of you.

When the last song finally ends, nobody staying at the hotel has far to go.
