The MATAO Event Centre

The MATAO Event Centre brings a little performance energy to a Selkirk wedding. The family-owned venue officially opened in 2025 inside a restored, fully outfitted event facility and specifically welcomes private rentals for weddings, anniversaries and other large celebrations.

The building can accommodate up to 160 guests and includes a stage, technical production capability and a licensed food-and-drink operation. During warmer months, an outdoor patio and green space add another place for guests to gather.

For couples who imagine the reception as a real show, that infrastructure can be wonderfully fun. Entrances can feel dramatic, speeches have a proper stage and music is already at home in the room. Then, once the formal pieces are finished, the venue can do what it was made to do: fill with sound, people and the kind of energy nobody wants to leave early, leaving the kind of warm, romantic memory that feels almost storybook long after the last dance.
