The Hotel Saskatchewan is the kind of place that makes a wedding feel as though it has joined a much longer story.

Standing in downtown Regina since 1927, this landmark hotel has welcomed generations through its doors while preserving the elegance and grandeur that have made it part of the city for nearly a century. For couples who love historic hotels, beautiful rooms and celebrations with a little old-world romance, there is something wonderfully fitting about beginning married life here.

At the heart of larger weddings is the Regency Ballroom.

With 7,332 square feet of space and soaring 20-foot ceilings, the ballroom can welcome up to 350 guests for a wedding banquet. It is a room made for the big moments: the entrance that makes everyone turn around, tables filled with generations of family, speeches beneath the high ceilings and a dance floor that eventually becomes the busiest part of the hotel.

But weddings here do not have to be enormous.

The Blue Lounge can seat up to 100 for dinner, while the Oak Room offers space for around 70. For something particularly intimate, the Library welcomes up to 30 banquet guests, with bookcases and a grand chandelier creating a completely different atmosphere from the larger ballroom.

That variety means a smaller wedding does not have to feel like a ballroom with half the tables missing. It can have a room that actually belongs to its size, where every guest feels close to the couple and dinner becomes one wonderfully connected gathering.

Food is part of the celebration too. The hotel's catering team can carry the wedding through dinner and cocktails, while rehearsal dinners and post-wedding brunches give couples the option of turning one evening into something closer to a wedding weekend.

And because everyone is already inside one of Regina's landmark hotels, guests travelling to Saskatchewan can stay right there. Family begins arriving. Familiar faces appear in the lobby. Elevators fill with dresses, suits and people asking which floor everyone is meeting on.

Then the ballroom doors open.

The hotel that has stood here since 1927 becomes the backdrop to something completely new.

Dinner is served. Glasses are raised. The chandeliers glow a little brighter as daylight disappears outside, and eventually the carefully arranged room becomes wonderfully less formal as everyone finds the dance floor.

Tomorrow, The Hotel Saskatchewan will return to being one of Regina's grand historic hotels.
