The Byre

The Byre begins with an old Alberta barn and five acres of prairie.

Everything after that belongs to the couple.

Just outside Coaldale and minutes from Lethbridge, this historic barn wedding venue brings together the character people love about a country wedding with the space and amenities needed for a very real celebration.

And there is room for almost everybody.

Up to 290 guests can gather inside the barn, making The Byre as suited to the big family wedding as it is to something more intimate.

Outside, the property opens around the celebration.

Landscaped grounds stretch toward prairie views, while a pond, bubbling rock fountain and waterfall create little pockets of beauty throughout the five acres.

The ceremony can happen out here.

Guests gather beneath the Alberta sky.

The aisle cuts through the landscape.

And behind the couple there is no ballroom wall pretending to be scenery.

Just the real thing.

Afterwards, there is no shortage of places to disappear for photographs while everyone else finds their way toward cocktails.

Then the barn takes over.

The same historic structure that looked wonderfully quiet earlier in the day fills with tables, flowers, dinner and hundreds of conversations happening at once.

Couples have flexibility over the people they bring into the day too, including their choice of caterer and other vendors.

That makes it easier for the celebration to taste, look and feel like the people getting married rather than a package selected from a predetermined list.

Eventually Alberta evening settles across the property.

The pond grows still.
