Studio Bell / National Music Centre

For couples whose relationship has always had a soundtrack, getting married inside Canada's National Music Centre feels wonderfully fitting.

Studio Bell is one of Calgary's most distinctive modern buildings, home to the National Music Centre and a collection of event spaces where dramatic architecture and music become part of the wedding itself.

The building was designed by architect Brad Cloepfil and includes several spaces available for weddings, from the light-filled East Village Skybridge to the Performance Hall and Canada Music Square. Studio Bell specifically promotes ceremonies, dinners and wedding receptions throughout the property.

The Skybridge is especially striking.

Suspended between parts of the building and filled with natural light, it gives a ceremony the feeling of happening somewhere completely unlike a traditional ballroom.

For dinner and celebration, the Performance Hall can accommodate approximately 160 seated guests, while other spaces around Studio Bell offer different possibilities for cocktails, smaller gatherings and photographs.

And photographs here have an unmistakable personality.

Curved walls, sweeping architecture, galleries and dramatic interior lines mean couples do not need elaborate décor to make the setting interesting. The building itself already creates the visual story.

Studio Bell can also be paired with the historic King Eddy nearby, where couples can use spaces including its dining room and rooftop patio. That opens the possibility of mixing two very different Calgary personalities within the same wedding experience.
