Shawnigan Retreats gives a wedding the feeling of borrowing an entire lakefront world for the weekend. The private two-acre estate on Shawnigan Lake includes a six-bedroom main house and a two-bedroom cottage, sleeping up to 18 people across the property, so the closest part of the wedding party can stay together instead of scattering to separate hotels.

Weddings can accommodate up to 50 seated guests or 70 for a standing celebration, with exclusive use of both houses for the weekend. Outside, a sandy private beach and 60-foot west-facing dock bring the serene lake directly into the day, while a sauna, hot tub and pickleball court turn the time around the wedding into part of the experience too.

The beauty of a private estate is how naturally the chapters can connect. Morning preparations can happen without leaving the property. Photographs can move toward the water. Guests can gather, celebrate and then watch the evening settle over the serene lake without the feeling that everyone must immediately pack up and disappear.
