Planters Ridge Winery

Some wedding venues have history added to them.

At Planters Ridge, it is built into the walls.

This Port Williams winery began on a historic farm overlooking the Wellington Dyke, with a centuries-old timber-frame barn transformed into the winery that stands there today.

Weddings are intentionally intimate, with celebrations of up to approximately 70 guests.

That smaller size suits the property beautifully.

The barrel cellar keeps its original stone foundation and offers one of the most distinctive places on the property to exchange vows or raise a glass. Nearby, ten-foot windows in the tasting room look across vineyard and farmland toward North Mountain, Cape Blomidon and the Minas Basin.

Then there is the covered timber-frame patio.

As evening arrives, string lights begin to glow while the vineyard and rolling hills stretch beyond it.

It is easy to imagine dinner there.

Everyone close enough to hear every speech.
