Penryn Park gives a Port Hope wedding the sweeping romance of an estate built from a love story of its own. The Penryn Mansion, known as the Big House, was built in 1859 by Lieutenant Colonel Arthur Williams for his bride, Emily Seymour, and today its historic grounds continue to welcome couples beginning stories of their own.

Weddings can range from intimate gatherings to celebrations of up to 200 guests, with ceremonies and receptions unfolding among the mansion, picturesque grounds and an elegant clear-span reception tent. The mature landscape and historic architecture give the day a graceful sense of place without making it feel frozen in the past.

There is something beautifully poetic about getting married on the grounds of a house originally built for a bride. Old trees, heritage details and the stately mansion make every photograph feel touched by history.

Then evening settles over Penryn Park, the tent begins to glow and an estate created from one nineteenth-century love story becomes the setting for another.
