Old Confidence Lodge

Old Confidence Lodge feels as though somebody uncovered a glamorous piece of Nova Scotia history and decided weddings deserved to happen inside it again. Built in Riverport nearly a century ago, the restored Art Deco lodge now welcomes couples into a room filled with velvet drapery, gold-leaf chandeliers, brass details and the unmistakable drama of an old performance hall.

Couples can marry on the historic stage or in front of the velvet drapes, then keep the celebration in the same building. Seated dinners can accommodate up to 100 guests, while receptions can grow to roughly 145 to 149. Tables, chairs, sound equipment, a technician, rehearsal time and day-of coordination are included in the full-day rental.

The setting gives the wedding a little theatre without asking it to become theatrical. Guests arrive in a seaside South Shore village, the ceremony takes centre stage and then the room changes into dinner and dancing.

By night, the old lodge is doing what it has done for generations: filling with music, people and stories. This time, the story belongs to the couple, leaving the kind of warm, romantic memory that feels almost storybook long after the last dance.
