During warmer weather, the Massie Family Courtyard offers another possibility.
Up to approximately 100 guests can be seated for an outdoor ceremony in the garden courtyard, creating a softer beginning to the day before everyone moves back inside. After the vows, the chairs can be cleared and the courtyard can remain available for guests throughout the evening.
Harris Hall adds yet another atmosphere. With exposed brick, a fireplace, access to the courtyard and space for approximately 150 guests, it is particularly suited to cocktails and those relaxed moments between the ceremony and reception.
That means the wedding can actually change as it unfolds.
The ceremony might begin outside among the greenery. Guests can then gather around the fireplace or drift between Harris Hall and the courtyard while photographs are taken. Later, everyone comes together again inside the historic Carnegie Room for dinner and celebration.
The gallery itself also gives wedding portraits a completely different personality. MacLaren specifically welcomes wedding photography, and the combination of heritage brickwork, contemporary architecture and gallery surroundings means couples do not need to leave the property to find interesting backdrops.
There is another meaningful piece to choosing the MacLaren as well. It is a registered charity and public art gallery, so celebrations held here also support arts programming within the Barrie community.
