Mackenzie King Estate gives a small wedding ceremony the feeling of stepping into one of Gatineau Park's most romantic historic landscapes.

The National Capital Commission currently permits wedding ceremonies at three designated locations around the estate, surrounded by gardens, grounds and the stone ruins that make the property so recognizable.

These are intentionally intimate ceremonies.

The sites generally accommodate around 40 standing guests, and only one wedding is permitted at the estate each day.

That keeps the moment beautifully focused.

A small group gathers.

The park surrounds them.

And the ceremony becomes part of a place already filled with history.

The estate is especially suited to couples who want the vows themselves to be the centre of the experience rather than a full on-site reception. Electricity and amplified sound are not available at the ceremony sites, helping the setting remain simple and connected to the landscape.

Then the photographs can wander.

Through the gardens.

Past the ruins.

Into the corners of the estate that have made it one of Gatineau Park's most beloved places.
