Hillsdale House Inn feels as though it was built for couples who want their wedding to have a little history behind every photograph. The 1859 inn sits on a twelve-acre estate in Annapolis Royal's historic district, surrounded by manicured romantic gardens, stately trees and the character of one of Nova Scotia's most beautiful old towns.

The inn currently hosts weddings with outdoor ceremonies for up to 200 guests in the back garden. Garden receptions can grow to around 250, while smaller celebrations can gather inside the Victorian dining room. A wedding coordinator, food service and guest accommodation help bring the experience together.

The romance here feels wonderfully unhurried. Vows happen among romantic gardens that have been growing for generations, photographs can wander through a property filled with Victorian character and dinner can feel more like an elegant gathering at a grand old home than a standard hotel reception.

For one day, the estate becomes part of the family story, and Annapolis Royal provides the sort of backdrop that only time can create.
