There is something especially beautiful about a prairie wedding when the sky seems to stretch forever.

Elmwood Golf Club has been part of Swift Current for generations, with an 18-hole course, mature landscaping and a clubhouse overlooking some of the most familiar green space in the city.

Weddings and private celebrations are welcome here, with catering and banquet facilities allowing couples to keep dinner, speeches and dancing together in one place.

After the ceremony, guests can settle into cocktails while the newlyweds wander onto the course for photographs.

The fairways grow quieter.

The nerves of the afternoon finally disappear.

And for a few minutes, there is nothing to do except stand beside the person they just married and take everything in.

Then everyone gathers again.

Dinner begins.

Stories are told.

Eventually the polished room becomes wonderfully less perfect as chairs move, people wander between tables and the dance floor fills.
