Some weddings are beautiful because they are grand.

Others are beautiful because everyone who matters feels incredibly close.

Creekside Villa belongs to the second kind.

Tucked into Canmore beneath the Rocky Mountains, this boutique hotel has just 12 guest rooms and the feeling of a private mountain home rather than a large resort. Floor-to-ceiling windows keep the mountains visible indoors, while outside couples can exchange vows with the Rockies rising behind them.

That intimacy changes the atmosphere of a wedding.

Your people are not scattered across different wings of an enormous hotel. They are nearby. Someone you love may be drinking coffee downstairs while flowers arrive. Friends are getting ready a few rooms away. Family keeps appearing in the hallway asking if there is anything they can do.

Then suddenly it is time.

Outside, a draped pergola can frame the ceremony against the mountain landscape. If the weather turns, couples have an indoor option too, where the stone fireplace and large windows keep the celebration warm without losing sight of where they are.

Afterwards, the villa becomes the gathering place.

Dinner can be created around seasonal, locally inspired food, cocktails can be made for the celebration and the same intimate spaces that felt quiet earlier in the day begin filling with conversation and laughter.

There is also the possibility of gathering the night before for a rehearsal dinner, allowing the wedding to begin gently rather than trying to squeeze every meaningful conversation into a few hours.

But eventually there will probably be a moment when the couple looks outside.

The mountains have been there all day, enormous and impossible to ignore.

Yet somehow, in a house full of the people they love most, the wedding still feels wonderfully small.
