Coulee Creek Farms gives a Calgary-area wedding the kind of country setting that feels as though the city has disappeared behind you.

The 130-acre farm opens into wide Alberta landscape, with three ponds and plenty of room for photographs that belong completely to the countryside.

Then there is the barn.

Upstairs, a 2,700-square-foot loft can hold both the ceremony and reception, giving couples a weather-safe way to keep the day together without losing the rustic character they came for. Downstairs, a stone fireplace creates a warm gathering place for cocktails before everyone moves back toward dinner.

The wedding does not have to be squeezed into one frantic day either.

During peak season, the venue is offered as a four-day rental, giving couples time before the wedding to set up and time afterward to clear everything away.
