Brackendale Art Gallery feels like somebody spent decades building a wonderfully eccentric place for art, music and community, then discovered it also happens to make a remarkable wedding venue.
Hand-built in the 1970s and tucked among towering cedars in Brackendale, The BAG is surrounded by the mountains and wild beauty of the Sea-to-Sky while carrying an unmistakably creative personality of its own.
Nothing here feels like a standard ballroom.
Art hangs where wedding décor might normally have to create the interest. Warm wood, rustic details and unexpected little spaces give couples a setting that already has a story before the flowers arrive.
And the wedding can move through several parts of it.
The gardens offer an outdoor setting for the ceremony, surrounded by greenery and mountain air.
Inside, the Main Floor and Balcony become the heart of dinner and celebration, while the second-floor Gallery brings art directly into the experience.
Then there is the rooftop patio.
Guests can step outside with mountain views around them, giving cocktails a completely different feeling from the celebration unfolding downstairs.
The venue can welcome ceremonies of up to 110 guests and receptions reaching 300, yet there are enough different spaces that smaller weddings do not need to feel swallowed by the building.
Food is prepared in house, and tables, chairs and dinnerware can already be part of the experience. The venue's team also helps with the flow of the day, allowing couples to spend a little less time thinking about logistics and a little more time actually being at their wedding.
And when the party finally ends, the couple can disappear into Eagle Tower.
The two-storey tower sits right on the property with a queen bed, private bathroom, kitchenette, balcony and rooftop access, creating perhaps the most wonderfully BAG way possible to end the night.
Tomorrow the gallery goes back to being filled with art, music and community.
But for one day, the thing everyone came to see is the two of you.
