Some wedding venues ask you to imagine what the space could become. Big Head Wines already gives you something wonderfully distinctive to begin with.

Set along Line 6 in Niagara-on-the-Lake, this family-owned winery places a wedding in the middle of Niagara wine country, where vineyard views, wide-open skies and the working spaces of the winery become part of the celebration rather than simply sitting somewhere beyond it.

A wedding here can begin outdoors, surrounded by the vineyards.

There is something beautifully simple about that picture. Your guests take their seats with rows of vines stretching into the countryside, the sky open above everyone, and the person you are about to marry waiting at the other end of the ceremony space. There is no need to create the feeling of being in wine country because you are already standing right in the middle of it.

Once the ceremony is over, Big Head gives couples several different ways to shape the rest of the day.

For a smaller celebration, the winery's Retail Space offers a more intimate setting. It is available for evening events and accommodates gatherings of up to 44 guests, making it an option for couples who would rather spend their wedding surrounded by a smaller circle of people than fill a large ballroom simply because one is available.

For larger receptions, the winery itself becomes even more visible.

The Tank Room is a bright, contemporary space of approximately 152 square metres, with high ceilings, expansive windows and the enormous Italian-made concrete wine tanks still very much part of the room. They give the space a character you simply would not find in a conventional reception hall. Up to 96 guests can gather here, surrounded by reminders that this is a place where wine is genuinely made.

Then there is the Barrel Room.

At approximately 200 square metres and accommodating celebrations of up to 136 guests, it offers a larger reception setting while keeping that unmistakable winery atmosphere. High ceilings and tile floors form the backdrop, while large wooden wine barrels bring warmth and texture into the room.

For couples who love places with personality, those details matter.

Instead of walking into a blank event space that could belong almost anywhere, guests know exactly where they are. The tanks, barrels and vineyard outside connect the reception to the winery itself, giving photographs and memories from the day a setting that feels unmistakably Niagara.

That also means the different parts of the celebration can have their own atmosphere without feeling disconnected from one another. The ceremony can feel open and romantic among the vines, while the reception becomes warmer and more intimate once everyone moves indoors.

There are beautiful possibilities for photographs throughout that transition too. A newly married couple can step away into the vineyard landscape for a little time together while guests enjoy the winery, giving those first photographs as a married couple a backdrop that feels natural to the place rather than staged around it.

And, of course, wine is woven naturally into the story here.

Big Head has more than twenty years of winemaking experience behind it and is known for producing small-batch wines using techniques that include wild fermentation and appassimento. For couples who genuinely enjoy wine, choosing a working winery for the wedding adds another layer to the celebration.
