Beaver Brook Farms

Beaver Brook Farms has something no newly built barn venue can order from a catalogue.

An actual century behind it.

Spread across 98 acres of organic farmland in Grey Highlands, the property centres its weddings around a century-old barn and farmhouse that have been restored without erasing the reason couples fall in love with old farm buildings in the first place.

The barn can welcome up to 195 guests.

Inside, handmade harvest tables and an eclectic collection of white vintage dining chairs bring character to the room before couples add a single flower. There is a bar for the evening, while the open-air lean-to creates another way to use the barn and surrounding farm.

Outside, the rolling fields do what rolling fields have always done particularly well at weddings.

They make people wander into them for photographs.

The farmhouse gives the beginning of the day somewhere of its own.

The renovated century home has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a full kitchen and naturally lit spaces that can be used while the wedding party gets ready. Couples can also turn it into part of a weekend stay for a small group of the people closest to them.

That makes for a lovely contrast.

The morning can be quiet inside an old farmhouse.

Then everyone walks toward the barn.

Suddenly there are nearly two hundred people, glasses being poured, chairs scraping back and the unmistakable noise of a wedding that has properly started.

By evening, the barn no longer feels like an old agricultural building someone decided to rent for events.

It feels exactly as old barns should.

Full of people.

And being used to bring everyone together.
