Backeddy Resort & Marina

Backeddy Resort is for the couple who wants everyone to disappear to the edge of the water together.

Tucked into Egmont on British Columbia's Sunshine Coast, the resort stretches along 600 feet of Sechelt Inlet shoreline, with forest behind it, mountains beyond the water and just enough room for the people who matter most.

Weddings here are intentionally intimate.

Up to 50 guests can gather for the ceremony, reception and overnight stay, turning the celebration into something that feels less like a large event and more like taking over a tiny waterfront world for the weekend.

The ceremony can look across the inlet.

Then everyone stays.

Some guests settle into waterfront cabins.

Others choose inn rooms or geodesic domes.

There is a beach, open lawn, forest and marina to wander through, while fire pits become natural gathering places once the carefully scheduled part of the evening starts becoming considerably less scheduled.

Dinner belongs beside the water too, with Backeddy's culinary team creating the wedding meal on site.

And then there is everything that can happen around the wedding.

A group can paddle away from the dock.

Take a boat toward nearby waterfalls.

Walk the surrounding trails.

Or do absolutely nothing except sit beside the inlet with a drink and the people they travelled all this way to see.

That may be what makes Backeddy particularly romantic.

Nobody has to hurry home.

The wedding can soften into an evening beside the fire, then into a night beneath the stars, and eventually into morning beside the same water where it all began.
