40 Knots Winery feels like a wedding that has found the edge of the island, with rows of vines running toward the Salish Sea and the light going gold over the water as the evening begins.

The winery sits on Anderton Road in Comox, on 24 acres of vineyard cooled by the ocean and farmed organically and biodynamically. Interpretive trails and gardens wind through the grounds, and the property is family friendly, so younger guests have room to roam.

For weddings there are three spaces to work with. The Stall Speed Lounge is the indoor option, rustic and modern and climate controlled. The Terrace is covered, sits beside the vines and keeps the vineyard in view whatever the weather does. The vineyard grounds themselves are the open air choice, wide enough for a tent if the guest list calls for one.

Those three can be combined in whichever order the day needs: vows on the grass, cocktails on the Terrace with the wine bar open, dinner in the lounge, or the whole celebration outdoors. The winery's own wines pour throughout, and the same spaces host rehearsal dinners the night before.
