Wanuskewin Heritage Park

At Wanuskewin Heritage Park, couples marry in the Opimihaw Creek valley, a place that has been a sacred gathering ground for more than 6,400 years.

Wanuskewin, a Plains Cree word that speaks of seeking peace of mind, lies just north of Saskatoon. Its trails wind through the valley, bison roam the land, and the site is working toward UNESCO World Heritage designation.

Ceremonies and receptions can be held indoors or out, for groups of 20 guests and more. The outdoor amphitheatre is a striking setting for vows, with excellent acoustics.

Indoors, the paskwāw Round can host up to 350 guests in banquet rounds and opens to a patio with creek views. Smaller rooms such as Eagle and Deer look over the Opimihaw Valley and the South Saskatchewan River, with walkout access to the valley, and the Story Circle has a wood-burning fireplace beside the elders' garden.

The on-site restaurant caters weddings with its own wedding menu, drawing on award-recognized Indigenous cuisine. The site is alcohol free.

Wanuskewin has won Indigenous Tourism Awards several times, and guests can explore the gallery and trails during their visit.
