The Peggy Corkum Music Room

At The Peggy Corkum Music Room, couples can say their vows in a true concert hall, with a Steinway grand on the stage and acoustics made for music.

This hall in Halifax's North End opened in 2002 and is owned and run by Scotia Festival of Music, one of Atlantic Canada's largest chamber music presenters. Designed by a local architecture firm, it won the Lieutenant Governor's Award for Excellence in Architecture, and in 2017 it was named for philanthropist Peggy Corkum after her major gift.

Over more than 20 years the room has welcomed celebrated composers and touring musicians, and couples have chosen it for their wedding ceremonies too.

The hall seats up to 105 guests, usually 68 on the main floor and 37 in the balcony, and the seating can be removed. A 9 foot New York built Steinway concert grand stays on the stage, ready for a processional played live.

Tall windows with motorized blinds let couples choose soft daylight or a darker, more theatrical mood. A rental includes the main hall, the lobby and support spaces, chairs and the grand piano.

Sound and video technicians, projection and audio packages can be added, and couples arrange their own licensed bar service if they want drinks.
