Some wedding settings are chosen for a single view. At Bent Ridge Winery, the view keeps changing, from twisted grapevines and heritage apple trees to wide-open farmland and golden-hour skies.
The winery sits in Windsor Forks, between rolling vineyards and a century-old apple orchard, just under an hour from Halifax. Glenn Dodge planted the first grapes in 2010 and opened the winery in 2018, and together with his wife Meghan Scott he later built a Wedding and Events Pavilion on the property.
Ceremonies take place outdoors among the vines. The Pavilion ceremony option is set directly beside the reception venue, with an arbour, seating and separate bride and groom tents, and welcomes approximately 40 to 100 guests.
The celebration then moves into the post-and-beam Pavilion, which hosts up to approximately 100 guests for dinner and dancing, rain or shine. Floor-to-ceiling glass garage doors open at the touch of a button, letting fresh air, sunset light and vineyard breezes drift in.
For smaller celebrations, an Intimate Boutique Wedding offers a vineyard ceremony for up to approximately 35 guests, with a small event tent for food and drink afterward.
Food is central to the experience. The culinary team is known for grill-inspired dishes and handcrafted fare, with plated dinners, cocktail-style receptions or a blend of both. Later in the evening, wood-fired gourmet pizzas are a crowd favourite.
Bent Ridge also makes its own wines, and Bent Nail craft beers are among the winery's specialties, so there is something local to raise for every toast.
An experienced events team handles each transition, from ceremony to cocktails to dance floor, while a dedicated wedding specialist guides couples through the planning. The Pavilion season runs from May to October.
For couples who picture vows among the vines, a long dinner with the doors thrown open and wood-fired pizza late into the night, Bent Ridge Winery offers a celebration that feels relaxed, generous and rooted in the Avon Valley.
