The Commons

At The Commons, a wedding unfolds under chandeliers and soaring ceilings, framed by century old brick inside one of Calgary's historic industrial buildings.

The Commons is an event company that manages a collection of Calgary venues. Its home rooms are in the Ramsay Design Centre, inside the historic Westeel Building from around 1919, where every room keeps its own architectural character.

The Hemingway Room is a bright, open ballroom with 14 foot brick walls, chandeliers and plenty of natural light. It hosts up to 175 guests and has the space to move from the ceremony through dinner and dancing while still feeling warm.

The Parlour Room is smaller and full of personality, with velvet seating, chandeliers, exposed brick and a relaxed speakeasy mood. It welcomes up to 100 guests for a ceremony, cocktails or a reception.

Hemingway bookings include a private patio strung with café lights, a lovely spot for cocktails or a quiet moment outside. Every Ramsay wedding also includes the Palm Room, a private space for getting ready.

There is no corkage fee, so couples can bring their own alcohol. Furniture, audio visual equipment, staff and a dedicated event host are part of the rental, and add-ons include wedding coordination, bar service and custom styling. For larger guest lists, the team also manages other distinctive spaces around the city.
