Tamarac Island Inn

A wedding at Tamarac Island Inn means water on every side, with sunrise over one shore of the island and sunset over the other.

The inn sits on Tamarac Island in Stokes Bay on the Lake Huron side of the Bruce Peninsula. Around 1878 the island became the site of one of the largest sawmills on the peninsula, linked to the mainland by a causeway and bridge. Today it is a quiet summer retreat known for its dark, starry skies.

Small weddings can take over the whole property, with accommodation for guests, or simply use the large open dining room and bar. Sliding glass doors open from the dining room onto a massive deck above the water.

Guests can stay in six waterfront motel rooms, a two-bedroom cottage or the coastal-style villa. The hosts can recommend local caterers and arrange a shuttle.

Between celebrations, guests can swim, fish, kayak, canoe or paddle boat from the large dock, relax on the sand beach, or gather at the fire pit as the stars come out.
