Strathcona Church

Some ceremonies belong in a place that has been holding people's hopes for more than a century.

Strathcona Church, in Vancouver, was built in 1910 and has been beautifully restored. The heritage building received a Vancouver Heritage Award in 2015.

The church opens its doors for weddings, inviting couples to begin the next chapter of their lives in its Main Sanctuary, which offers seating for up to approximately 400 guests.

A sound system, microphones, speakers, monitors and lighting are available, and the grand piano may be available on special request.

Couples can also book time for a wedding rehearsal, so the wedding party can walk through the ceremony before the day itself.

The church does not provide pastoral services for weddings, but can offer referrals on request. Beyond the sanctuary, the building also has a meeting hall of about 2,350 square feet with an attached kitchen, along with classrooms and activity rooms.

As a heritage building, the church asks that celebrations respect its character: no alcohol, open flames, confetti or real flowers inside, although artificial arrangements and bouquets with dry stems are welcome.
