In winter the hills belong to skiers. Once the snow melts, the same slopes become the backdrop for something quieter: long dinners, first dances and summer evenings with family gathered on the deck.
Snow Valley sits in Minesing, just outside Barrie, and has been hosting weddings and events for more than 30 years. Weddings here are welcomed outside of ski season, which typically runs from November to the end of March.
Couples can choose from five licensed options. The Alpine Room comfortably seats 250 guests, surrounded by large hillside windows. The Day Lodge seats up to 400 in a bright hall with views of the slopes and an expansive, accessible deck.
For smaller gatherings, Duffy's Deck & Lounge accommodates up to 85 guests with optional access to a railed deck overlooking the slopes, while the third-floor Triple S Room seats up to 80 beneath a chalet-style ceiling with full wall windows.
Couples can also rent the whole facility, which brings together a cocktail lounge overlooking the hills, a rustic dining hall and a large multi-level outdoor patio planted with seasonal blooms. Weddings are booked for a minimum of 100 and a maximum of 400 guests.
Ceremonies can be held on site, so the whole day can unfold in one place. The outdoor deck is AGCO-licensed, and couples are welcome to bring in live entertainment.
Catering is handled in-house by Rick Dolson and the Snow Valley team, with packages tailored to preference. A personal facility decorator is available, cleaning is taken care of before and after the event, and setup the day before may be possible depending on availability.
