A wedding at Sassafraz glows with hurricane lanterns and a living wall of orchids, all inside a charming little house in the heart of Yorkville.

Sassafraz sits among the narrow streets and old row houses of Yorkville village, a short walk from Bay subway station, with parking a few minutes away. The restaurant hosts more than 100 weddings each year and is fully accessible.

Ceremonies can be held on the second floor, set theatre style with a centre aisle for up to 100 seated guests plus standing room, so the move to the reception is effortless.

The main dining room, with soft, elegant décor and its wall of orchids, can be booked out any day of the week and holds up to 100 guests with room for cocktails and dancing. Adding the second floor for cocktails and dancing brings the total to 144.

Upstairs, the private Bellair and Cumberland rooms have loft ceilings, banks of windows and a built-in bar. Separated by frosted glass panels, they seat 32 and 72 on their own, or combine for 100 seated or 225 for cocktails.

Guests order from a personalized menu at their seat, with the same dishes served in the restaurant, and a food and drink bundle is available. A dedicated wedding planner guides couples from the first visit to the big day and is on site for the celebration.
