A wedding at Prince of Wales feels like stepping into a Victorian love story, with chandeliers glowing overhead right in Niagara-on-the-Lake's Old Town.
The hotel was built in 1864 at the corner of King and Picton Streets and is one of the oldest hotels in the Niagara region still welcoming guests. Today it offers 110 individually decorated rooms and suites spread across five buildings.
Four historic rooms host weddings. Hampton Court, with its gilded papered walls, suits ceremonies or receptions for up to 50 guests. Three Feathers wraps up to 26 guests in warm cherry wood and twinkling lights. The Victoria and Albert Ballroom, which has been hosting celebrations for more than a century, seats up to 80 beneath grand chandeliers above an ornate floor. The Royal Cambridge Ballroom stands on its own with crown moulding and sparkling chandeliers for up to 120 guests. Elopements for two are welcome too.
Wedding packages bring china, silverware and glassware, linens, tables and chairs, a dance floor, cake and receiving tables, a custom dinner menu with hors d'oeuvres and a bar package, photo spots around the hotel and preferred room rates for guests. All food is prepared by the in-house culinary team using seasonal ingredients, and an in-house florist knows every room.
Receptions are always held indoors, and an indoor backup is reserved for every outdoor ceremony. Parking is complimentary for wedding guests and every area is accessible. A wedding sales manager helps secure the date, then a special events manager guides the details and oversees the day itself.
Guests can unwind in the Secret Garden Spa with its saltwater pool indoors, a whirlpool and a sauna, share afternoon tea in The Drawing Room, dine at Noble Restaurant or relax in the library-style Churchill Lounge. Some rooms have fireplaces, and the Shaw Festival theatres are less than five minutes away on foot.
For couples who picture candlelit romance, gilded ballrooms and a weekend in a historic wine country town, Prince of Wales offers a wedding with true Victorian grandeur.
