Some couples want their wedding to feel like part of the city's story. At the National Arts Centre, celebrations unfold in the heart of downtown Ottawa, with views toward Parliament, the Peace Tower and the Rideau Canal.
The NAC sits in Ottawa and offers more than 28,000 square feet of event space, along with heated underground parking, guest elevators and a completely accessible building.
The Canada Room is reached by a grand staircase and looks out over the Rideau Canal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It can host wedding receptions from about 150 up to approximately 400 seated guests.
The O'Born Room, with sky-high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling glass walls, seats around 150 guests. Le Salon, with wood-panelled walls, a glittering chandelier and a skylight, seats about 100, while the bright Rossy Pavilion suits smaller weddings of around 30 to 60 guests.
Ceremonies can be held on site before the reception, with locations chosen according to the reception room and guest count. The Lantern Room, known for its digital art and fine acoustics, and the Rossy Pavilion are among the ceremony settings, each holding up to around 140 to 150 guests.
1 Elgin, the NAC's restaurant, can also be booked privately for a wedding of up to approximately 180 seated guests when there are no performances.
A dedicated Catering Sales Manager works with couples from the first call to the final details, and a Banquet Captain oversees the reception on the day. Packages include service staff, Villeroy & Boch dinnerware and glassware, table settings and wine served with dinner.
The newlyweds receive a hotel room at the Lord Elgin, where friends and family can also access preferred rates.
For couples who dream of a polished downtown celebration with canal views and a sense of occasion, the National Arts Centre offers a setting that feels unmistakably Ottawa.
