Some weddings are over in an evening. At Mountain Aire, a celebration can unfold over days, feeling less like an event and more like a retreat.

Mountain Aire Resort & Campground sits on the edge of the Red Deer River in Water Valley, Alberta, and is designed for couples who want to bring all of their guests together in one place, surrounded by nature.

At the centre of the celebration is the pavilion, with chairs and tables for up to 200 guests and access to a full kitchen. Wedding packages give couples use of the pavilion across a multi-day stay, so there is no rushing from setup to goodbye.

Couples are free to design the day their own way. The resort does not require in-house catering or specific vendors, and is happy to recommend preferred catering and planning contacts.

Accommodation is a big part of the experience. Packages include cabins, glass river view pods, hotel rooms and bring-your-own-bedding rooms, sleeping up to 173 guests at maximum occupancy, with RV sites available to add even more overnight space.

Weekend, weekday and extended combo packages are offered during the peak season from June to mid-October, and the team can be contacted about dates outside that season.

Family can arrive early, settle into cabins and stay on for breakfast the morning after, turning a wedding into a shared getaway.
