At Le 2800 du Parc, couples exchange vows on a lawn above the Saint-Maurice River, then carry the celebration into a century-old barn with a fire glowing on the terrace.
The site sits at kilometre zero of Parc national de la Mauricie, just outside Shawinigan. It once belonged to the Doucet family: Hilarion Doucet and Laurence Gélinas were married here on July 9, 1929, raised 15 children and reached 70 years of marriage. The team named its weddings in their honour, and more than 50 couples have married here since the site opened in 2020.
Most ceremonies take place in front of the Doucet house, looking out over the river, or on the belvedere. If the weather turns, the covered terrace or a rented tent keeps everyone dry.
Receptions are held in the Grange aux Moines, a barn that was taken down and rebuilt from its original materials. The room has large windows, a stage, a sound system and a projector, and welcomes up to 150 guests depending on the season and layout. Beside it, a covered terrace has a gas fireplace and patio heaters, and there is an outdoor fire pit near the belvedere.
The team provides full meal and drink service, with a private bar and dedicated staff, plus an event supervisor on the day. The events lead was married on the property herself.
On the wedding day the whole site is reserved for the couple. Its 16 chalets sleep about 65 guests, and most have a wood fireplace and a full kitchen, so the party can stay together like a small village.
Guests can spend the weekend exploring the national park, cycling its scenic parkway, hiking or visiting its lakes and beaches.
For couples who picture a river view, a rustic barn and their favourite people all staying on site, Le 2800 du Parc offers a wedding with real history and a warm, outdoorsy spirit.
