InnChanter

Imagine a wedding where the guests do not drive home at the end of the night. They simply walk down the hall to their cabin, with the sound of the water just outside.

The InnChanter is a floating bed and breakfast in Ucluelet, a 100-foot wooden heritage ship converted into group accommodation on Vancouver Island's west coast. It is reached by water taxi, which is included with a private booking.

The ship is booked exclusively, giving a group of up to 12 guests the entire place to themselves. Six private staterooms mean the whole wedding party, or a couple and their closest family, can stay together for the celebration.

The InnChanter welcomes weddings, along with bachelorette and bachelor parties, birthdays, family gatherings and retreats. It is best suited to an intimate celebration or an elopement-style weekend with a small circle of loved ones.

Inside, there is a main saloon with a fireplace, a library, an ocean-view bar and a grand dining room, while a 700-square-foot sundeck opens the gathering up to the coast.

Optional catering includes dinner, dessert, coffee and tea and a full hot breakfast, or guests may use the kitchen themselves.

Between the moments that matter most, there is plenty to fill the days: kayaks, stand-up paddleboards and a floating wood-burning sauna are all part of the stay.
