Highwood Centre

At the Highwood Centre, a wedding becomes part of a story that has kept High River gathering, dancing and celebrating for more than 80 years.

The centre stands in downtown High River. It was born in the 1940s from a community wish for a hub for local social life, and to save costs, builders used lumber and materials from the town's Second World War flight training school, so pieces of local history are built right into its walls.

Today the centre offers more than 22,000 square feet of event space and hosts weddings alongside milestone parties, concerts and theatre. The Windmill Theatre Players have performed on its stage since the 1970s.

Couples can choose a room that suits their guest list. The Heritage and Veterans rooms together seat about 176 for dinner, the Rotary room seats 120, and the grand Medicine Tree Hall seats close to 300. For the biggest celebrations, rooms open into one another for banquets of up to 500.

The team offers catering, bar service, décor and planning help, so couples can lean on one experienced crew from the first walkthrough to the last dance. Events here also support a community charity.
